Mireille Ardena

"There is poetry in every step, and precision in every breath. We do not fight – we perform."

Current matriarch of the Rosette Veil, a centuries-standing sisterhood of graceful combatants, whose origin traces back to the fall of the British monarchy. Her ancestor swore an oath to the first compiler - the original 'Bloom' of historic Lumière-Rose - that her sisterhood would forever guard the Bloom's light in all its future bearers. Mireille and her Veil now fulfill that ancestral vow through their devotion to Astrid, a gesture the highly emotional and attention-seeking girl took far too literally, and now she and Mireille are tight-knit lovers.

Personality

On the surface, Mireille is coldly elegant and emotionally reserved, echoing the tendencies of her late mother. Underneath, however, Mireille hides a great deal of trauma, unease, and especially self-doubt about her position and her capability to fill her mother's place; and the Veil members closer to the top of the chain know it.

She inherited the command of the Rosette Veil at the young age of 19, following a civil war that broke out after the power vacuum left behind by Théophanie's sudden absence, split between preserving the founder's will and becoming mercenaries-for-hire. Mireille ended this conflict by taking up her mother's arms and duelling the opposing faction to the death, claiming victory and reasserting the Veil under the Ardana family name.

Around Astrid, Mireille is a lot more open and honest with her feelings, since Astrid's one of the only people she can trust and show weakness around.
