Personality
Astrid is highly intelligent and empathetic, with a great deal of care towards those she holds dear, and a strong sense of humour. Despite this, her autism causes her to struggle with social interactions and communication - she often finds herself to be socially awkward. However, when confronted with an enemy, she adopts a devil-may-care attitude and begins screwing around with them.
Astrid is also quite irreverent and somewhat vulgar - while she doesn’t use profanity per se, she uses other, less harsh expletives, such as “frick”, “bloody” and “damn”.
Astrid also has a much softer and affectionate side – she enjoys giving and receiving hugs and cuddles to and from her loved ones, and she absolutely loves getting patted on the head. She'd never admit it to anyone, though.
Preferences
- Music: Astrid enjoys a mix of J-Pop, rock and electronic music, often flip-flopping between different genres. Her playlist is a cacophony of Crush 40, Lotus Juice, nao, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Casey Edwards, various VTubers, and so on and so forth.
- Food: Her favourite food is fried chicken, and her absolute favouritest dessert is cheesecake. Her favourite drink is usually an energy drink of some kind.
- Clothing: She prefers comfortable clothing that allows her to move freely while still looking stylish. Despite this, she will choose to wear high heels even if it’s uncomfortable. She likes them too much, as they're intrinsically tied to her transgender identity - she wore a pair of black stilettos to her first Pride march.
- Gaming: Astrid primarily enjoys stylish action games, boomer shooters, fast-paced platformers and fighting games. She'll often kick back on the sofa playing ULTRAKILL, Devil May Cry, Sonic, Neptunia, and some other of her favourites. Sometimes she'll interrupt an enemy monologue by whipping out her Steam Deck and practising DMC combos while waiting for them to finish.
- Programming: Astrid will swear by Rust, always emphasising that it’s the best programming language ever created and she’s not biased at all, shut up. Despite this, she also writes code in Python, Lua and Haskell. Contrastingly, she can't stand C++, and will often shun – or in the case of her enemies using it, sabotage – projects that use it.
Weapons
- Cyclica - A chainsaw sword with tail-call optimisation. Curved-blade sword with a chainsaw embedded into it, activated by a pull cord. The name comes from “cycle” and “recursion”, representing the infinite loop of self-referential programming. Its TCO allows it to recursively call its chainsaw invocation without any additional overhead. Astrid names this feature "Overclock", after the concept of overclocking in computer hardware.
- Azurite - A vertically-arranged double-barrelled hand cannon with a revolving chamber, adorned with glowing blue circuitry and entropic coil. This weapon doesn’t fire physical ammunition – it constitutes highly reactive and unstable arrays of raw entropy within the chamber upon actuation, manifesting as a highly potent energy projectile. These projectiles can be fired from both barrels simultaneously in a spread-shot fashion, or alternatingly for rapid, sustained fire.
- Pangaea - A keyboard embedded onto a wrist-mounted device with a holographic display, running a customised Arch Linux named “PangaeaOS”, extending the system with various Rust utilities and tools. Capable of hacking into any computer and manipulating the environment around her.
Possessions
- Steam Deck: Valve’s flagship handheld gaming PC, running SteamOS, a variant of Arch Linux. Astrid runs various games on here.
- Laptop: A 15” black laptop with her “velocity arrows” logo on the lid, running Arch Linux (btw). She carries it absolutely everywhere she goes.
- Phone: A custom-built Linux phone running Plasma Mobile.
- Headphones: A pair of navy blue headphones that sync with her phone, though in battle she prefers to connect them to Pangeaic Refactoriser.
Stylish Rankings
During combat, Cyclica and Pangaea will synchronise and report on Astrid's combat performance, manifesting in the form of a Stylish Rank.
Stylish Ranks are hardcoded into PangaeaOS to be exactly like how it works in Devil May Cry. A letter grade, ranging from D to SSS, appears as a coloured hologram above her head.

Index
Astrid can assume the abilities of other characters, as long as she has at least a basic understanding of their fighting style. Due to her own fighting style, characters that wield swords are the easiest for her to adapt to.
To be able to Index a character, Astrid must first register their moveset inside Pangaea's codex, and then load up to four Indexes in Cyclica. These Indexes can be switched at will; they work like style switching and don't require any sort of setup or introduce any delay.
When Indexing the abilities of her loved ones - Alicia, Mireille or anyone else she holds dear, Full Affinity kicks in, allowing Astrid to fully adapt to their moveset and combat styles.
